US$60m for modernizing education system

The World Bank will offer Moldova almost US$60 million in grants and loans for modernizing the education system. Parliament ratified three agreements that facilitate the provision of financial assistance, IPN reports.

The World Bank will provide US$19.8 million worth of grants and a US$40 million loan. The financial resources will be used to increase the quality of education for children and students by creating safe, modern learning environments adjusted to the needs.

Three new lyceums will be built and 15 schools and 15 kindergartens will be rehabilitated. Money will be invested in the physical and digital modernization of learning environments in approximately 200 schools.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, the financial assistance will enable to provide early educational intuitions with modern teaching-learning and playing techniques and to implement instruments for supporting children who lag behind.
