U.S. will provide support to Moldova after initialing of Association Agreement

The United States will offer the assistance needed to achieve the Moldovan Government’s priorities after the initialing of the Association Agreement with the EU, Deputy Assistance Secretary of State Eric Rubin said in a meeting with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, IPN reports, quoting the executive’s press service.

Eric Rubin stated that the U.S. supports Moldova’s European integration efforts and the Government’s agenda in the pre- and post-Vilnius period. “The United States backs the European aspirations of Moldova. We are ready to offer you support in the development of the social and economic spheres,” said the U.S. official.

The two officials also discussed the reforms implemented by Moldova with a view to developing the infrastructure and strengthening the rule of law, and the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks.

Iurie Leanca pleaded for the intensification of the bilateral dialogue at high level and invited the U.S. officials to pay a visit to Moldova.
