U.S. welcomes conclusion of Palanca agreement
The United States Embassy commends the Moldovan government for concluding an agreement with Ukraine to fully resolve the border demarcation of the Odesa-Reni highway at Palanca, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press statement from the Embassy.
According to the statement, this formal decision underscores Moldova’s commitment to working with its regional and international partners to settle issues of territorial sovereignty in a peaceful and mutually beneficial manner. The agreement provides a template for future cooperation to resolve remaining outstanding issues between Moldova and Ukraine, and demonstrates Moldova’s willingness to foster regional cooperation and enhance regional security.
On June 30, the Border Guard Service issued a communiqué, announcing that the joint group of experts of Moldova and Ukraine started to set up frontier signs near Palanca. A decision to this effect was taken in the 41st meeting of the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border demarcation commission. There were agreed the places near Palanca where the frontier signs will be built up, in accordance with the State Border Treaty between Moldova and Ukraine of August 18, 1999.
