The U.S. Congressional delegation that visited Moldova congratulated the Moldovan authorities on the ratification by Parliament of the Association Agreement with the EU, saying the United States will provide all the necessary support for the Government to achieve its priorities. The U.S. officials made the statements in a meting with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, the Premier said the next goal of Moldova is to implement the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. “The support promised by Brussels and Washington in this respect makes us confident that we will achieve the desired results,” stated Iurie Leanca.
The officials discussed Moldova’s European agenda, the negotiations between Chisinau and Tiraspol, the justice reform, the efforts made to fight corruption, security aspects and the situation in the region.
The delegation’s visit to Moldova is part of a larger regional visit, which also includes stops in Azerbaijan and Georgia. While in Moldova, the delegation had meetings with Moldovan government officials, opposition leaders, and civil society representatives.
