The United States Senate adopted a resolution expressing the sense of the Senate with respect to enhanced relations with Moldova and support for Moldova’s territorial integrity. The document recommends, among others, developing the cooperation between the U.S. and Moldova in the information area, IPN reports, quoting Radio Free Europe.

The resolution also recommends increasing the U.S. support for civil society and independent media outlets and intensifying cultural and citizen exchanges. The United States encourages the EU to continue to support Moldova’s territorial integrity.

The U.S. Senate also calls on Russia to withdraw its troops from the internationally recognized territory of Moldova, to refrain from exerting economic pressure and to stop supporting the separatist movements in Moldova.
