US rejects spheres-of-influence approach in international relations, Marian Lupu
The United States of America does not impose its will in Moldova’s domestic affairs and doesn’t tolerate the spheres-of-influence approach in international relations, stated Moldovan Speaker Marian Lupu after the meeting between US Vice President Joe Biden and the delegation of the Moldovan Parliament on Friday afternoon, March 11, in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
During a TV show on Moldova 1, Marian Lupu said that throughout the discussions, two crucial principles were voice, which prove the American partners’ great attitude towards Moldova.
“The US Vice President assured us he didn’t come to give us any recommendations or instructions. He stressed that Moldova’s domestic policy is fully the responsibility of the Moldovan authorities and when we need support to implement our agenda, the US Government will be ready to back us. The choice is ours. The bid for support is ours, and they will wholeheartedly offer the assistance we need”, said Marian Lupu.
According to the Moldovan Speaker, the discussions highlighted the US Government’s intolerance for the spheres-of-influence approach in international relations “whether it’s the United States, Russia, China or other global powers”. “The USA respects each country’s freedom of decision, regardless of the country's size, like Moldova. This is a respectful attitude and a dialogue on equal footing, no matter how strange it may seem”, said Marian Lupu.
