Moldova’s Radu Albot has been pitted against the Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic in the first round of US Open, marking the first time the two will have faced each other. The game will be played Monday, 26 August, at 5:00 PM Chisinau time.
 
Before reaching the main draw of the New York Grand Slam, Albot had to overcome three obstacles in the qualifying rounds, in the form of Spain’s Javier Barranco Cosano, France’s Luca Van Assche, and Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki.

Albot’s best US Open result was in 2017, when he reached Round 3.

Currently ranked world no.2 in men’s tennis, Djokovic is the US Open reigning champion.
