U.S. offers humanitarian assistance for Ukrainian refugees

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations received a lot of humanitarian aid from the United States. The donation estimated at over US$113,000 consists of folding beds and generators, IPN reports.

Serghei Diaconu, secretary general of state at the Ministry of Home Affairs, said the received goods are of vital importance for the Ukrainian refugees and also for the employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, who daily work in the front line and provide assistance, protection, warmth and food to people from temporary placement centers.

U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Kent D. Logsdon said the aid provided by the United States will contribute to creating better living conditions for the refugees.

General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations chief Alexandru Oprea said that the rescuers and their mates from other subdivisions of the Ministry of Home Affairs since February 24 have offered decent services for the people fleeing from the war. The humanitarian assistance from the U.S. will be used to create better work conditions for the Ministry’s frontline workers and for all the refugees from temporary placement centers.

This lot is the first part of the assistance offered by the U.S. for managing the flow of refugees in Moldova. More aid will be delivered to Chisinau soon and will be distributed to temporary placement centers intended for Ukrainian refugees.
