The U.S. Embassy provided $50,000 in technical assistance to the Center for Temporary Placement of Minors within the Ministry of the Interior, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press release from the Embassy. As part of this assistance package, the U.S. Embassy purchased a minibus, a security video monitoring system, and installed window grills and a barrier gate at the entrance of the building housing the Center. ”This donation is intended to assist the Government of Moldova in its efforts to build up social institutions,” it is said in the press release. In addition to the Center in Chisinau, 27 smaller centers, capable of housing up to 10 children each, operate in several municipalities. These centers play a vital role in helping the Government combat trafficking in children.
