U.S. EUCOM assists Moldova in flood relief efforts
The U.S. Office of Defense Cooperation, at the American Embassy in Chisinau is coordinating the shipment of two truckloads of supplies in support of the Moldovan Government's flood relief efforts. This shipment, which is part of the U.S. Department of Defense Humanitarian Assistance Excess Property program, includes rubber boots, one-man inflatable rafts, cots, portable toilets, blankets and bed linens, and assorted medical consumables, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press release from the U.S. Embassy.
The shipment is valued at $132,872 and will originate from the U.S. EUCOM Excess Property warehouse in Livorno, Italy. In addition, the U.S. Office of Defense Cooperation will be donating ten motorized water pumps worth $10,000.
This equipment will be donated to the Department of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to enhance the capability of their response teams and to assist their efforts in the flood-affected areas. These projects are in direct response to the Government of Moldova's request for assistance from other countries and international organizations to help with flood relief efforts.
