The Embassy of the United States welcomes the passage of the Law on Ensuring Equality as a positive step towards guaranteeing equal rights for all people in Moldova, it said in a press release quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “We strongly support Moldova's democratic aspirations and future as a tolerant, European state, and encourage further progress toward these goals. We strongly believe that all people should be free to enjoy the rights and freedoms laid out in international human rights law and to live their lives without fear of discrimination. Therefore, we continue to urge the Government of Moldova to live up to its international commitments to protect the human rights of all individuals in Moldova on an equal basis”, reads the press release. The Law was adopted by Parliament on Friday. The passage of this law was among the last steps to be taken by Moldova before it could proceed to the second phase of the visa liberalization dialogue with the European Union.
