U.S. Embassy offers grants to study and research in the United States

The U.S. Embassy has announced the annual competition for the Fulbright Scholar Program, the Fulbright Faculty Development Program, and the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program for the 2015-2016 academic year. On-line applications must be submitted by June 2, 2014, on http://moldova.usembassy.gov, IPN reports.

According to a press release from the U.S. Embassy, these programs offer non-degree research or study grants for Moldovan researchers, university teachers, or experts who meet eligibility requirements. Specific requirements apply to each program, for example citizenship of the Republic of Moldova and permanent residence in the country, a detailed statement of proposed activity for research at a U.S. institution, proficiency in written and spoken English, and experience in the field.

The number of grants offered to Moldovan researchers and university teachers will depend on the next budget of the U.S. Government, which hasn’t been yet approved by the Congress. Media/Grants Administrative Assistant at the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Corina McGregor said that Moldova usually obtains 2-3 Fulbright Scholar grants, 2-3 Fulbright Faculty Development grants, and one Moldovan on average gets a grant for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, which is competitive all over the world. No fields are given priority.
