The US Embassy has donated five VAZ automobiles and a computerized program to the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MIA) with a view to consolidate the capacity of law enforcement bodies. The present was handed as part of an ample programme dedicated to the National Police Day, carried out early on Monday, December 18, at the monument “Eternal memory to police employees dead on their line of duty” in the “Valea Morilor” Park, Info-Prim Neo reports. After laying flowers, the US Ambassador in Moldova, Michael D.Kirby and the MIA participated in the alignment in a straight line of the police staff of the Chisinau garrison, and the young policemen gave their oaths. Interior Minister Gheorghe Papuc mentioned that the police will fulfil their obligations towards the country and the people, eradicating the criminality and ensuring the order of law. After congratulating the audience on the occasion of the 16-th anniversary of the National Police, the US Ambassador in Chisinau Michael D.Kirby stated he is proud of the existing cooperation between the USA and Moldova in the field of rights protection. As the American diplomatic mission’s head states, the US Embassy donates 5 auto vehicles and special equipment to the police, which will be useful in the fight against the organized crime. The ambassador said that the US Government will support Moldova in their efforts to combat crime. The equipment donated by the US Embassy will ensure the police with the necessary resources to carry out penal investigations. A number of police subdivisions received Renault and Dacia automobiles on the part of MIA. Early on Monday the National Police Day started with the laying of flowers at the Monument of Stefan cel Mare şi Sfant, “Eternity” Memorial and at the tombs of policemen dead on the line of duty in Central Cemetery.
