U.S. dentists provide treatment to Moldovan orphans

Members of the North Carolina National Guard traveled to Moldova to provide dental care to Moldovan children as part of the ongoing partnership program between the State of North Carolina and the Republic of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the U.S. Embassy. Colonel Jeff Weiss and Lt. Colonel Glenn Garland arrived in Moldova on September 5 to lead two teams to provide dental treatment to children from the orphanage in Straseni and the boarding school in Ialoveni. Colonel Weiss and Lt. Colonel Garland are being assisted by two Moldovan dentists, Dr. Stela Samson and Dr. Oxana Balan, and Irina Zgardan, a military dentist in the Moldovan National Army. This current dental mission was coordinated by the Bilateral Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova and Dr. Oleg Solomon, Deputy Dean of the Dental Department of Moldova State University. Colonel Weiss and Lt. Colonel Garland will continue providing dental treatment for children from the Straseni orphanage in Straseni and for children from the Ialoveni boarding school in Chisinau at the Central Hospital of the Moldovan National Army. They will conclude this dental mission on Saturday, September 11.
