US and EU urge peace and order during and after elections
The United States and the European Union are urging the electoral stakeholders to ensure order and peace during the parliamentary elections on November 28 as well as in the post-election period, Info-Prim Neo learned from a joint statement of the US Embassy and EU Delegation to Moldova.
“The Embassy of the United States and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova note that the Republic of Moldova will hold a parliamentary election on Sunday, November 28, 2010. A free, fair, and transparent electoral process is an indispensable part of democratic governance, and this is an occasion for the people of Moldova to confirm their commitment to democratic principles and to build upon the progress Moldova has made to date.
To this end, the Embassy of the United States and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova call upon all election participants to help ensure that this Sunday's election will meet European and international standards, and that the election and post-election periods will proceed in an orderly and peaceful manner”, the statement reads.
