U.S. Ambassador gives advice to winemakers

U.S. Ambassador to Moldova William H. Moser advises the Moldovan winemakers to devote greater attention to the wines made from Moldovan sorts of grape so as to conquer foreign markets. The diplomat made such statements in an interview for the public TV channel “Moldova 1”, IPN reports.

According to Moser, the Moldovan winemakers should not copy the recipes of the wine producers that are known on the market, but propose original wines that would intrigue the consumers. The diplomat gave as example the wine made from the sort “Feteasca”, saying he is delighted by this wine.

The ambassador also recommended developing the tourism industry in concert with the wine industry. “The Republic of Moldova has very special historical places that are attractive for tourists. Combining these routes with the traditions and wine industry would be a success,” stated Moser.

The diplomat revealed that he intends to take part in a cycling race on the occasion of the opening of the Sarateni-Soroca road that was repaired with funds of the U.S. Government’s Millennium Challenge Account. He said he is preparing intensively for this competition and last Sunday covered 27 km by bicycle.

William H. Moser noted that he loves the Moldovan cuisine, especially the kitchen soup and food made from eggplants, and praised Minister of Agriculture of Moldova Vasile Bumacov for his skills in making traditional food.
