The US Ambassador to Moldova, Michael D. Kirby, encourages the Moldovan Government to make sure the media’s liberties are respected. This statement has been made after a discourse on the US elections in front of Moldovan International Free University students and professors, Info-Prim Neo reports. Michael D. Kirby has spoken on the presidential elections of later this year in the United States, describing their peculiarities and the characteristics of the American electoral system in general. After taking students’ questions, the ambassador has told journalists the main trait that can be borrowed from the American electoral model is the access to information. The Government should encourage its people to take more interest in candidacies, in order to make a conscientious choice, said the ambassador. Michael D. Kirby says he encourages Moldova to take steps to insure free and fair elections, close to perfection.
