Urban Bus Fleet installs numbering machines in about 20 buses for paying travel tax
The Urban Bus Fleet (UBF) from Chisinau intends to come back to an older method of paying the tax in the buses with a reduced inflow of passengers which circulated in Chisinau.
The head of the Bus Fleet, Anatol Gheorghita says that in the next days, the enterprise will install numbering machines in 20 buses circulating on the routes no. 9, 15 and 19. Subsequently, about 200 numbering machines will be installed in about 60 units of transport. Passengers will be able to enter through all the doors. Passengers will purchase tickets from the driver and then compulsorily stamp them. Controllers will intensify their activity on these routes in order to find out passengers without tickets.
The cost of a bus ticket is MDL 2. Passengers without stamped tickets will pay a MDL 6 fine.
Numbering machines will be also used on the routes were no conductors work, Anatol Gheorghita says. The administration of the enterprise says that this payment method will be useful in case the electronic payment system will be out of order, system which the City Hall intends to introduce in Chisinau’s public transport.
The Urban Bus Fleet disposed of the numbering machines in 1997.
