Update: The body of the 12-year-old girl that was being searched in the waters of the Răut was found at about 1pm on June 10, at a distance of approximately 5 km from the place where she allegedly drowned. The case is being investigated by the competent bodies, the General Inspectorate for Emergencies has said.

A girl aged 12 is being searched by rescuers in the Răut River after she was last seen on the bank near Ciocâlteni village of Orhei district on June 9.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, the girl and her eight-year-old sister were pasturing cows near the river. At a certain moment, a fisherman saw that the younger girl was drowning in the river and rushed to help her. He took her out in an unconscious state. An emergency team managed to resuscitate her and transported her to the hospital.

Contacted by IPN for details, the Inspectorate’s press officer Liliana Pușcașu said the 12-year-old girl hasn’t been found yet and searches go on.
