Dry branches falling from untrimmed trees account for much of the power failure of the street lighting system in the capital city, Nicolae Veresco, head of the municipal enterprise Lumteh told the meeting of the City Hall on Monday. Veresco says most of the trees are aligned in the same row with the lampposts, fact which contravenes the safety rules in operation. According to him, the trees should be planted at least 4 metres away from the lampposts. Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said that the only viable solution for now is to cut the dry and loose branches in due time and shape higher tree crowns.
