The unpleasant smell emitted by the Chisinau wastewater treatment station is expected to disappear by August. The director general of the water supplier SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) Constantin Becciev made the statement at the ordinary meeting of the Chisinau City Hall officials on April 19, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The works to transport the mud for drying-up usually begin in May. This year, following the implementation of new technologies, we can convey much more mud,” Constantin Becciev said. “About 500 cubic meters of mud were transported during one day the previous years, but now the quantity is 1,500-2,000 cubic meters.” The mud is stored until it dries up. Afterward, it is used as fertilizer on farmland. “About 100 cubic meters of mud will be transported by July 1 and the unpleasant smell will not be so sharp,” Constantin Becciev said. “We call on the people to be patient and understanding as things will return to normality in August.”
