University professors from different countries discuss Francophony in Chisinau

University professors from Canada, France, the Republic of Moldova and Romania are discussing the values of Francophony in Chisinau. The international colloquium has brought together some 100 representatives of university and academic institutions, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ana Gutu, first deputy rector of the Free International University of Moldova, the organizer of the event, said that the goal of this scientific event is to promote French language research in the fields of literature, linguistics, philosophy and arts, as well as to establish connections among the universities from the region and other parts of the world. The colloquium’s participants are discussing the role and the potential of the media in promoting francophone values and francophone academic mobility – experiences and prospects. Reports are presented in the framework of many scientific workshops: literature, translation, arts, language didactics, media and communication. According to the cited source, in the present situation, when English is widely used and is in fact the language of the majority of published scientific works in various fields, the duty of university professors is to promote the ideals of the Francophony, which pleads for diversity. The international colloquium “Francopoliphony: The Values of Fracophony” is at its third edition.
