Universities start to admit students

The admission session at universities opened on July 16 and will close on July 27. According to the Ministry of Education, more than 20,000 places are available for bachelor’s degree studies, while about 9,000 for master’s degree studies.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the Education Ministry’s Higher Education Division Nadejda Velishko said that for the first time this year, the candidates can submit the copies of the necessary documents to several faculties at several universities. “By July 31, the candidates will find out if they were admitted or not. By August 3, they must file the documents in original at the faculty where they want to remain,” she stated.

Of the over 20,000 places provided for bachelor’s degree studies, 6,700 are financed by the state. 3,500 awards are offered for master’s degree studies. “We have the same admission quotas as last year: 65% for students from villages and 35% for students from towns,” said Nadejda Velishko. About 500 places with awards are available for Transnistrian students, while 900 places, about 350 of which with awards, are offered to foreigners.

In Moldova there are 17 state universities and 13 private ones. The admission results will be made known at the start of August. The second admission round to fill the unoccupied places will be held immediately afterward.
