The commercial bank “Universalbank” SA that is undergoing liquidation resumed paying back deposits to depositors. At the current stage, there will be paid deposits of 9.05 million lei, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the National Bank, “Universalbank” announced that every depositor will receive 70% of the balance of the deposit. The payments became possible following the collection by the liquidator of money from selling the bank’s assets.

In the middle of July, the balance of private individuals’ deposits totaled 12.9 million lei. After the payments are made, the remaining debt to 65 persons will be 3.8 million lei. The payments made to private individuals since the bank remained without a license will represent 45.3 million lei or 92.1% of the initial deposits.
