United States donates modern equipment to Prosecutor General's Office

The Prosecutor General's Office has, starting today, a set of state-of-the-art IT equipment and software. The aid, worth a million lei, was donated by the United States Embassy in Chisinau.

According to the acting Prosecutor General, Dumitru Robu, with the help of the respective equipment, his office achieves investigation possibilities matching best world practices. "The donation is appreciated and well received not only by prosecutors, but also by the entire society, which is expecting answers to many questions”, said the prosecutor.

Veaceslav Soltan, head of the Information Technology and Digital Investigations department within the Prosecutor General's Office, says that the software will help analyze information.

At the event, US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Dereck Hogan, said that the new technology will allow the Prosecutor General's Office to serve as a liaison center which will support prosecutors across the country, to efficiently conduct complex criminal investigations.

The ambassador added that the US side appreciates the Prosecutor's Office efforts, but is aware that people are expecting more in regard to dealing with major financial crimes that happened in recent years and potential future ones.
