United Moldova party calls on extra-parliamentary groups to ally for potential early elections
The Spiritual Development Party “United Moldova” is calling on the political groups which didn't clear the threshold for parliamentary seats in the April 5 polls to ally in the event of early elections and thus form a democratic pole.
The party's leader Ana Tcaci has told a news conference on Friday the intention is to create an alternative to the communists and the liberals.
However, if a democratic pole fails to emerge, the United Moldova will stay out of the race and will support “the forces that promote civil liberties and democratic values”.
Tcaci also said her party had been intimidated throughout the recent election campaign and requested to quit the race “and stop stealing votes from the Communists”. Yet she expressed her overall satisfaction with the party's campaign whose main goal was to enhance the party's popularity.
