Unit for exceptional cases to be created under prosecutor general

A unit for exceptional cases will be constituted under the subordination of the prosecutor general by reducing a part of the positions in the organogram of the Prosecutor General’s Office, including two posts of prosecutor for special missions, IPN reports.

The Superior Council of Prosecutors also decided to exclude the International Cooperation and European Integration Division from the organogram of the Prosecutor General’s Office. The International Legal Assistance Division was transferred under the Investigation and Criminalistics Division as a subdivision. The Protocol, International Cooperation and European Integration Division became a subdivision managed by the prosecutor general.

The Council also approved the merger of the two units into a new subdivision - Regulations and Institutional Policies Division as part of the Policies, Reforms and Protection of Societal Interests Division.

The request to modify the internal structure of the Prosecutor General’s Office was made by Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo. “The given changes are managerial in character and cover a number of subdivisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office. They form part of a general view on the functioning of the institution. We therefore note that the insinuations that the personnel changes have subjective connotations are groundless and lack content,” the PGO noted in a press release.
