Representatives of the Association “UNIREA-ODIP” said that a number of associations affiliated to candidate for President Igor Dodon intend to stage public disorder events immediately after the elections, IPN reports.
In a news conference held in front of the Presidential Palace, the Association’s head Vlad Biletski said that the Party of Socialists today plans protests in a number of locations in Chisinau at a time when public events involving more than 50 persons are banned.
Vlad Biletski noted that the PSRM and its affiliates submitted preliminary statements to the Chisinau City Hall by which they reserved a number of protest venues. Four associations filed identical preliminary statements that defined one goal – to discuss the political situation in the country, to have free and democratic discussions – right after the presidential elections.
“Immediately after they find out the preliminary election results, they will invade this sidewalk, the National Opera House, the square before the Monument to Ruler Stephan the Great, the square before the Parliament Building. The people who will come here will include members of the Officers Union – 10,000 people, the Union of Afghanistan War Veterans – 5,000 people and the other two youth organizations – by 49 people each,” said the leader of “UNIREA-ODIP”.
According to him, the Officers Union of Moldova is headed by incumbent Minister of Defense Victor Gaichuk, the Association “Urmașii lui Ștefan” is represented by Dumitru Roibu, who is an adviser to the President on youth, while another association that filed a preliminary statement is headed by an inferior of Dumitru Roibu.
