The National Confederation of Trade Unions (CNSM) sent a formal note to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and to the State Chancellery to object to the draft decision setting the minimum monthly salary for the next year at 4,000 lei.
The Confederation, which claims a membership of about 300,000 employees, suggested it won’t settle for less than 5,000 lei.
The Confederation rejects the notion that, at the meeting of the National Commission for Consultations and Collective Bargaining on November 7, a common position was reached on the subject of the minimum salary. “Both the National Confederation of Employers and the CNSM insisted on having a minimum salary of 5,000 lei for 2023. We do not support the proposed draft, because the drafters brought no arguments whatsoever for the amount of 4,000 lei”, the note says.
The unions further demand that the Salary Law be taken into account in setting the minimum monthly salary for the next year.
