The unionist car march set to take place in central Chisinau on September 23 was put off. Contacted by IPN, chairman of the National Unity Bloc Ion Leashchenko said the event was postponed because one day after announcing the march, the Liberal Party informed that it will mount a car march and a collection of signatures for Moldova’s union with Romania the same day.

“The collection of signatures is a laudable intention. As to the car march, we would have had two similar events the dame day at almost the same time. Another day could have been found on the current Centenary Year,” stated Ion Leashchenko.

The car march was proponed until October 21.
