The Union Political Movement and the Association “Unirea-ODIP” in the morning of July 9 picketed the Parliament Building. The unionists came with placards with such messages as “Down with the bandits”, “Union and punctum” and “Moldova free from bandits” on them, IPN reports.
Liberal Party president Dorin Chirtoacă said society now sees a Parliament of bandits where an MP (Ștefan Gațcan, e.n.) was corrupted by some and then abducted by others and now appeared in Parliament to further take part in the wars between thieves. “These crimes should be brought to an end,” he stated.
Save Bessarabia Union president Valeriu Munteanu said MP Gațcan most probably left the Socialist parliamentary group to join the Candu group under the influence of money. He was kidnapped from Moldova’s Parliament and this is an unprecedented happening in Moldova. During the past 30 years, 20-30 MPs defected from their groups in each of the legislatures, but none of them was abducted and maltreated.
National Liberal Party president Vitalia Pavlichenko noted that the current developments are not only tragic and dramatic, but also ridiculous. “Everyone laughs at what Moldova’s Parliament turned into. The Republic of Moldova, through the political forces represented in Parliament, is tore up by a part of society that is represented by political forces that speak about Europe, but also think about Moscow and another part of society that openly works for the opponents of our interests of Romanian national unity and joining of the Euro-Atlantic area. The case of Gațcan is the peak of ridicule witnessed in Parliament and in Moldovan politics,” stated the politician.
“Unirea-ODIP” leader Vlad Biletski said we are witnessing the settling of an old score between oligarchic clans that didn’t manage to divide the spheres in June 2019 and now try to take revenge by buying, blackmail and kidnapping MPs. This is advantageous to Igor Dodon, who can make a victim of himself in the election campaign, and also to Vlad Plahotniuc.
After the last three sittings of Parliament could not take place because a quorum was not present, Specialist MP Ștefan Gațcan came to the July 9 sitting and a quorum was constituted. Prime Minister Ion Chicu presented in Parliament the bills for which the Government assumed responsibility.
