Union Fenosa responds to competition watchdog

The board of RED Union Fenosa has released a press statement saying that the enterprise’s activity is fully fair, both technically and legally, as it has always strictly respected the Moldovan legislation and regulations. In came in response to the decision of the National Agency for Protection of Competition to penalize Union Fenosa, Info-Prim Neo reports. “As a provider of electricity, RED Union Fenosa uses electricity meters certified in Moldova, tested in independent laboratories and corresponding to the ANRE regulation on measuring electricity for commercial purposes”, reads the statement. The Union Fenosa administration says it hasn’t received the ANPC decision yet and cannot offer further comments. It will announce its position only after examining an official document sent by the Agency. On Tuesday, June 28, the ANPC director, Viorica Carare, said that RED Union Fenosa was fined with 200,000 lei for breaking the law on protection of competition in the energy meters market. “The company used its dominant position in order to set obstacles for other companies in the market of electricity meters. Thus, we can say the company created discriminatory conditions for its competitors in order to eliminate them from the market”, said Viorica Carare.
