The party Union Democracy at Home accuses the Democratic Party (PDM) of massively using administrative resources in the election campaign. Representatives of the party said the students of many education institutions are sent home after several lessons and the teachers are obliged to take part in the electoral meetings of the PDM. Similar situations were also witnessed at other public intuitions.
Ion Leashchenko, who runs for MP on the list of the Union Democracy at Home, in a news conference at IPN related a case that happened in Răzeni village of Ialoveni district. As teachers said, on February 12 students left home at 11:30am even if the classes were to last by close to 3pm. The images distributed by a TV channel showed the teachers went to the electoral meeting with their heads down and when coming out of the building refused to say in what meting they took part.
Ion Leashchenko believes the PDM uses administrative resources because the representatives of this party fear the halls will be empty if they do not force the people to take part. In Ungheni, employees of a number of state institutions were forced to attend electoral meetings. At the Chisinau Lyceums “Onisifor Ghibu” and “Petru Rareș”, several days ago the parents were invited to take part in a meeting of the parents committee, but this was actually an electoral meeting with a Democratic candidate in that constituency.
Folk music singer Zinaida Bolboceanu, who runs on behalf of the Union Democracy at Home in constituency No. 35 Căușeni, said it is regrettable that the teachers today do not have the courage to show that they are upright as they fear they will remain without a job. “How can we appear before students when we decayed morally so much. Don’t concede. We must be decent,” stated the candidate.
In the same news conference, teacher Silviana Pozneac, of the Excellence Center in Informatics and Information Technology, asked to stop this destructive scourge as the intimidation of teachers cannot continue.
The leader of the Party Democracy at Home Vasile Costiuc said it seems to be something normal for the PDM to oblige the teachers and other employees of state institutions to abandon their work and meet with candidates of this party. In Sălcuța and Opaci villages of Căușeni district, representatives of the PDM forced the school principals to convoke meetings with parents. The latter came to school to find out how their children study, but had to take part in an electoral meeting with the candidates of the PDM. “This is an abuse and I thus call on the international institutions accredited to observe the elections to give a warning signal. It is an abuse committed by the government,” he stated.
Vasile Costiuc called on all those who are forced to take part in electoral meetings with candidates of the PDM to have the courage to vote consciously in elections as no one sees them in the polling booth.
The Union Democracy at Home is under No. 11 on the ballot for the national constituency. In a single-member constituency, the party is represented by folk music singer Zinaida Bolboceanu.
