UNICEF supports inauguration of Republican Centre for youth and children in Chisinau
UNICEF backs the Government’s initiative to create a Republican Centre for youth and children, which will coordinate the activities of associative networks and structures of young people in other settlements in Moldova. The full support of the international organisation in the successful implementation of the given was confirmed by the UNICEF Representative in Moldova Ray Virgilio Torres Flores, as part of a meeting with Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev.
During the meeting, the UNICEF Representative in Moldova appreciated the relations of cooperation between the Moldovan Government and the organisation that he represents and affirmed that he will make every effort to support the implementation of the joint projects further.
In addition, Vasile Tarlev mentioned that Moldova pays special importance to cooperation with the UNICEF, a fund that supported the efforts of Moldovan authorities in promoting children’s rights by working out and implementing certain programmes and major projects in health, youth education and social protection at a national level.
As the Premier states, the Government pleads for reforming the extracurricular education system, and the set-up of the Republican Centre for youth and children will be an important step in the given direction.
The UNICEF Representative Ray Virgilio Torres Flores qualified this project as an ambitious one, but very necessary, as its implementation will enable a more active attraction of the young in the decisional process and offer new opportunities for affirmation both professionally and socially.
