The Border Police received protective suits, medical gowns and portable thermal scanners for detecting persons with fever at border crossing points from UNICEF, IPN reports.
The assistance provided to the Border Police in the fight against COVID-19 by the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund through UNICEF and the International Organization for Migration contains 2,000 protective suits and 1,000 medical gowns. The goal is to improve the Border Police’s capacity to ensure control and manage the cases of infection at border crossing points.
In a press release, the Border Police Inspectorate says the donation represents support for frontline employees. It was made as part of the project “Strengthening Moldova’s National Response to the COVID-19 Crisis” in which the Inspectorate is one of the beneficiaries alongside the General Police Inspectorate, the COVID-19 triage center and another 53 medical institutions of Moldova.
Also, the IOM will cover the costs associated with the testing for COVID-19 of 300 employees of the Border Police.
