The UNICEF Regional Office has launched an exercise in five countries, which include the Republic of Moldova, for carrying out an assessment for the introduction of measures to stimulate demand for immunization in national policies, programs and budgets. The subject was discussed in a meeting of the director of the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) Valentina Buliga with UNICEF expert Kaki Zoidze, who is paying a visit in connection with the assessment of the immunization activities, IPN reports.
The UNICEF expert said the assessment is aimed at determining demand for immunization at the levels of community, family, etc. “As there are anti-immunization currents all over the world, which misinform the public, the governments should make greater effort to promote the benefits of vaccination for public health,” said Kaki Zoidze, who was quoted in a press release of the CNAM.
“Regrettably, the attitude to immunization during the last few years has changed in many countries, including the Republic of Moldova. The opinions in society are different. However, most of the citizens realize the importance of vaccination for the own health and for public health,” stated Valentina Buliga.
Kaki Zoidze will later issue the authorities with recommendations concerning the immunization component and models for integrating it into the budget in the future.
