UNICEF and EU launch Child Rights Toolkit in Moldova

UNICEF and the European Union launched the Child Rights Toolkit in Moldova. The book provides practical advice on the child-centered approach in the process of developing programs, budgets and policies, IPN reports.

In the launch event, EU Ambassador to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said that Moldova is the only country in the Eastern Partnership with which the EU agreed a full Association Agreement chapter on cooperation in the protection and promotion of children’s rights.

“This new global initiative introduces a new dimension as regards the addressing of child rights in the development agenda,” said the UNICEF Representative in Moldova Nune Mangasaryan. “It reminds that there are no policies or sectors that would have no connection with the children and their rights. All the reforms, policies and budget decisions, either in education, energy, finance, economy, governance, transport or security, affect in a positive or negative way the children’s life.”

In 2014 and 2015, the Child Rights Toolkit was launched jointly by the EU and UNICEF in over 40 countries.
