A 65-year-old woman in Boghenii Noi village, Ungheni district, died last evening after she was struck by a car as she was crossing the street.

Ungheni Police spokesperson Oxana Toderita told IPN the driver, a man aged 43, was not under the influence and would not be held in custody during the investigation of the case. If found guilty of accidental manslaughter, the driver could spend from 3 to 7 years in prison.

The woman's neighbors said she was struck after she had just stepped out of a minibus coming from Ungheni where she worked.
