Ungheni will be the first town in Moldova that will have LED traffic lights by June 2015. Until then, there will be set up 20 cameras to survey traffic and over 1,500 road signs.
Contacted by IPN, mayor of Ungheni town Alexandru Ambros said the works will be performed within the Romania-Moldova-Ukraine crossborder project “Information and security systems in traffic” that is financed by the European Union with €720,000. The contribution of the local authorities will be 10%.
“In October, there will be set up road signs, while in November – the stoplights. In the spring of 2015, after more road portions are repaired, we will perform the marking works,” said the mayor.
The road markings will cover an area of 3,000 square meters. There will be used thermoplastics that resist for a period of up to five years.
