The construction of Iasi-Chisinau pipeline’s segment connecting the border town of Ungheni to the Moldovan capital will commence this month, closer to Independence Day. SpeakerAndrian Candu announced this during a talk show on Radio Moldova, IPN reports.
The head of the legislative body says another important project related to energy infrastructure – electric interconnection with the EU, including with Romania – is being drafted for implementation. To that end, Moldova has taken a loan and has received several grants from donors. We are talking about over 250 million euros, a very important economic project, said Andrian Candu.
Meanwhile, Andrian Candu confirms the Parliament has an overdue assignment for the fall-winter session, one which he hopes will be resolved – amendments to the Constitution concerning Moldova’s European integration course. “The Parliamentary majority still doesn’t have the votes necessary to amend the Constitution, hence, we must discuss it. I truly hope we can compromise with pro-European parliamentary opposition parties PLDM and PL, that in the upcoming session we will manage to amend the Constitution in this regard,” stated Andrian Candu.
