The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Moldova next year will launch a program whose direct beneficiaries will be the young people, the women and the older persons. Representatives of the UNFPA said the cooperation relations with the Government will be continued so as to develop the young people’s employment, critical thinking and business capacities, to inform the girls and women about reproductive health and to prevent abuses, IPN reports.
UNFPA Moldova and the State Chancellery agreed the cooperation priorities for the immediate period. In this connection, UNFPA Resident Representative in Moldova Nigina Abaszada said that UNFPA also aims to cooperate with the authorities for improving the data on the population, for designing correct and representative public policies, etc.
“We will continue supporting the refugees from Ukrainian at the level of the whole host community so that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who were so generous with their neighbors in this period also benefit,” stated Nigina Abaszada, being quoted in a press release.
“UNFPA is a reliable partner of the Government and we appreciate the support you offer for such important areas as women’s health, youth development and empowerment and, in general, the wellbeing of the family and the population. Moreover, since the start of the war in Ukraine, UNFPA has become involved and helped both refugees from Ukraine and the host communities,” said the Government’s secretary general Dumitru Udrea.
With regard to the implementation of the National Development Strategy “European Moldova 2030”, Dumitru Udrea noted that the Government is committed to creating modern hospitals and lyceums so that the citizens have access to health and education services of a high quality.
