UNFPA delegation pays visit to Moldova

A delegation of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) headed by Peer Sieben, director of UNFPA for Moldova is paying a visit to Moldova from January 29 to February 2 to participate in the final meeting on assessing the progress of the portfolio of projects implemented in concert with Moldova’s Government in 2004-2006, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to UNFPA in Moldova, during its visit in Chisinau, the mission will sign the UNFPA and Moldovan Government Action Plan on implementing the Assistance and Cooperation Programme for 2007-2011, will hold technical consultations with implementation partners in Moldova. Concurrently, the mission of UN Agency will take part in the opening of a modern facility dealing with reproductive health at the National Medicine College in Chisinau, equipped with the support of the UNFPA. UNFPA Country Programme intended for 2007-2011 has the main objective to provide assistance to Moldova in the process of European Integration and to reassess the development priorities set by the Government, satisfying the needs of the underprivileged people within three primary assistance domains: promote human rights and good government; reduce regional and local gaps, and to ensure the access to qualitative services. UNFPA Programme will have three main components for the next five years: Reproductive Health, Population, Development and Gender. UNFPA allots USD 2 mln 250 thousand to implement the Country Programme.
