Unforgettable trip to Chisinau for children who never saw capital city

The public associations “Tineri si Liberi” (“Young and Free”) and “Tinerii pentru dreptul la viata” (“The Youth for Right to Life”) organized a trip to Chisinau for 55 children from socially deprived families from Fauresti commune. Antoniţa Fonari, the head of the association “Tineri si Liberi”, said many of those children saw a public library and a museum for the first time. They talked with a writer and admired the snowy capital city, Info-Prim Neo reports. The children visited the “Targu Mures” Branch of the Municipal Library “B.P.Hasdeu”, where they received books as presents and took part in an event titled “A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body”. They also visited an exhibition themed “In the World of Toys”, staged at the National Museum of Archeology and History of Moldova, and met with writer Vasile Romanciuc. The event centered on the importance of leading a healthy life and eating fruit and vegetables for a healthy body and the importance of reading for a healthy mind. “We created a joyful atmosphere for the children and provided a meal for them,” said Oxana Turcanu, consultant of “Tineri si Liberi”. In October 2010, the two associations decided to take under their tutelage children from socially disadvantaged families and other persons at risk from Fauresti commune that forms part of Ciorescu village. The trip was organized with support from the Embassy of Finland in Bucharest, the “Targu Mures” Branch of the Municipal Library “B.P.Hasdeu”, and Soros Foundation Moldova.
