The representation of the United Nations in Moldova announced on Friday, October 27, the results of the “UN 2006 awards” for mass-media. The jury, formed by representatives of the USM Faculty of Journalism, press institutions and media NGO’s, have chosen the winners for the written press (including press agencies): First place – Tudor Iascenco, „Cuvintul”, Rezina (USD 125), Second place – Valentina Basiul, „Timpul de dimineata”, Chisinau (USD 100), third place - Ludmila Moraru, „Flux”, Chisinau (USD 75). The radio first prize award was not offered. The second place was offered to Elena Cioina from Radio Europa Libera (USD 100) and Valentina Ursu from Radio Europa Libera (USD 100), and the third place was offered to Vera Nastasiu from Radio Vocea Vasarabiei (USD 75). The first place for television also wasn’t offered. The second place was given to Daria Gvindjia (TV 7) (USD 100). The third place was won by Liliana Arnautu from Euro TV Chisinau (USD 75). With USD 50 awards were mentioned Valeria Viţu from Radio Europa Libera, Chisinau, Galina Lungu from the Info-Prim Neo press agency, Pavel Paduraru, from „Timpul de dimineata”. The Ana Boiceac (from Bender) - Olga Ceban (from Basarabeasca) team was awarded with USD 25 each for their work published in the “Business Info” Cimislia newspaper. The contest was attended by 30 journalists (20 employees of periodicals and press agencies, 5 representatives of radio stations and 5 TV channels representatives) from Basarabeasca, Balti, Bender (Tighina), Chisinau, Rezina, Soroca and Tiraspol. The materials published and broadcasted from October 2005 until September 2006 ware presented. The competition was meant to encourage and promote a professional attitude in the mass-media towards the UN priorities and actions, including the Millennium Development Objectives (MDO). The presented material was evaluated according to the criteria: theme corresponding, degree of objectivity and argumentation of the material, depth degree, material structure, audio/video quality and the structure of the programme/report.
