A number of 12,800 students who graduated from the ninth grade were admitted to lyceum for the 2023 – 2024 academic year as a result of the admission contest. This is 45.67% of the total number of graduates of secondary schools, according to data published by the Ministry of Education and Research, IPN reports.
According to statistics, 8,100 students or 63% of all the registered lyceum students were admitted to humanities, while slightly over 4,300 students or 33.47% were admitted to exact sciences. As many as 2,430 lyceum students chose sports, while over 200 opted for arts.
A number of 332 lyceums work in Moldova the current academic year. Out of these, 224 are in urban areas, while 108 are in rural areas. Training at 232 lyceums is in the Romanian language, while at 85 lyceums is in Russian. Fifteen lyceums are joint ones.
