ULIM-Alexia suffer major defeat

ULIM-Alexia Chisinau are on the brink of being eliminated from the EHF Men's Cup Winners' Cup after losing yesterday the first leg of the third qualifying round to the Russian team Kaustik Volgograd, 24-41, Info-Prim Neo reports. Managing to keep step with the guest side for only the first couple of minutes, ULIM-Alexia were heavily outpaced later on. The best scorer for Alexia was Alexandru Pervanciuc with 9 goals, the same number scored by Kaustik's Sergei Markelov. “My players played at their maximal potential. We still have a chance – the reverse match”, said Alexia manager Ruslan Verejan at a press conference after the game. “We liked the ambition of our rivals and I also expected my team to do better. Overall, it was an interesting game”, said Kaustik coach Aleksandr Alekseyev. The reverse match will be played on December 3 in Volgograd.
