Ukrainian woman caught smuggling drugs into Moldova

A woman from Ukraine, who drove a minibus from Odessa through Palanca, was arrested last Sunday after drugs to the value of about 6.6 million lei were found in the vehicle. The General Police Inspectorate said the drugs of alfa-PVP type – white or pink crystals called “salt” which can cause hallucinations – were hidden inside four electric water pumps, being packed in 21 sachets weighing a total of 11 kg, IPN reports.

After crossing the border, the minibus driven by the 41-year-old woman was stopped by officers of the National Inspectorate for Investigations for being checked. The drugs were seized as evidence, while the minibus was impounded as the unit of transport used to commit the offense and can be later confiscated for the benefit of the state.

Following a request made by the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, the Ciocana Court ordered to remand the woman in custody for 20 days. The investigation continues.
