Three political forces of Ukraine are now negotiating the creation of an acting Government that will take over the administration after the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Nicolai Azarov is dismissed, Radio Ukraine reporter Nadejda Banchik said in the program “Place for dialogue. Argument counts” on Radio Moldova over the phone, IPN reports.
“It is now quiet in the center of Kiev. There were made no other attempts to occupy the state institutions. However, the Government Building continues to be blocked by 50,000 protesters. If the Supreme Rada votes for the Government’s dismissal tomorrow, President Victor Yanukovych will sign the decree,” said Nadejda Banchik.
The Ukrainians have protested since last week, when the Government decided to suspend the procedures for signing the Association Agreement with the EU. Afterward, the Government ordered that the police use force to disperse the crowd that gathered in the center of the Ukrainian capital. As a result, about 1 million people took to the streets and attempted to occupy the Presidential Office.
A commission of the Supreme Rada on December 3 will examine the draft resolution on the Government’s dismissal presented by the opposition. The Ukrainian head of state had a phone conversation with the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, whom he asked to receive a delegation of Ukraine to discuss some aspects of the Association Agreement with the EU.
