Ukrainian NGO presents “Transnistria’s Renewal” booklet
The Research Center of the Southern Border of Ukraine (RCSBU), NGO created in Herson for studying border problems and cross-border cooperation, has presented in Chisinau, at a press conference, the booklet entitled “Transnistra’s Renewal”.
The booklet is published in Russian and English. It presents information about the political and economical situation of the region, and about the “Sheriff” Company.
The head of RCSBU, Vladimir Corobov, declared that some business structures of Herson city and representatives of the small business offered financial resources for publishing the booklet because they face difficulties related to the new customs regime. He said that some data included in the publication can not be found elsewhere.
According to Corobov, in the near future the role of Ukraine in the Transnistrean problem and its influence over this region and settlement of the dispute will grow.
The assistant of Corobov, Ghorghe Beanov, mentioned that Ukraine, particularly Herson city have economic interests regarding Moldova, and for the development of these interests some obstacles should be eliminated and supplementary resources should be found in order to increase the effects of this collaboration. He said that because of the conflict, the development of collaboration relationship between Moldova and Ukraine has to suffer.
Beanov considers that instituting the new customs regime at the Moldovan-Ukrainina border, on the Transnistrian segment is not sufficient, taking into consideration the present relations with the separatist region. He said that the sides involved in this conflict must sign some guarantee agreements on foreign economic activity of Transnistria, on the base of the present border regime, agreements where conditions satisfying all sides are stipulated.
RCSBU has previously organized in Ukraine 2 conferences on the Transnistrian problem, where representatives of the Republic of Moldova and of the separatist region participated.
