Ukrainian MPs don’t want Igor Dodon in their country

Ukraine’s Supreme Rada made an approach to the Security Service of Ukraine, asking that the Moldovan Socialist candidate for President Igor Dodon should be banned from entering the country. In reaction, on his Facebook page the politician wrote that this statement does not represent the official position of the Ukrainian state, IPN reports.

According to the Ukrainian information portal pravda.com.ua, Vice Speaker of the Supreme Rada Irina Gerashchenko read the request to the Security Service of Ukraine whereby they ask to declare Igor Dodon a persona non-grata owing to his previous statements about the territorial integrity of Ukraine. This said that Crimea now belongs to Russia, while the Ukrainian authorities dispute this.

In his posting, Igor Dodon says Ukraine is a neighboring country with which Moldova is tied by hundreds of years of friendship, common Christian values and mutually advantageous economic relations. He has friends there and good cooperation experience at state level.
